It is permissible to have ruqya done to you without asking for it as well as asking someone to do it for you. You can recite on yourself by gathering the palms of your hands and reciting and blowing in them the following chapter [surah] and verses [ayah]. You can also add any Prophetic prayers [dua] and then wipe areas of the body that are ill or hurt.
Seek Allah's protection from Satan who is accursed by reciting the ta'awuth "A'oothu billahi minashaytaanir rajeem" between the verses.

You can also do ruqya on food and water. Recite the above verses 3, 5 or 7 times; blowing every time you recite them. Eat and drink this food and water as well as rubbing over your body; especially the places that are hurting you.
